Minecraft had been added to the xbox one store! And if you already had it on your 360 live account it would only be 4.99. (However of you had disk based you would need to still have your old disk and console)
If that was too difficult to read
Anyone who knows me though, knows I love Minecraft. And I have been waiting what feels like forever for it to come to next(now current) gen consoles.
While PS4 players still have to wait a bit, project man Daniel Kaplan had this to say-And Sony friends – you will get a Minecraft surprise soon..or maybe sooner?! 😉
While of course I do not support console wars….
I can’t help but be a little hopeful that the One comes out first.
But to be fair M$ has been on this bandwagon longer.
But for anyone else interested
Owners of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition can upgrade for just $4.99* USD, or new players can download the full game for $19.99 USD. All downloadable content players have purchased for the Xbox 360 Edition is available free for re-download on Xbox One.
With worlds up to 36 times larger than on Xbox 360, now there’s an even bigger canvas to create on. Transfer your favorite Xbox 360 worlds and content to the Xbox One Edition so you won’t lose your creations. Join a community of 13-million-plus Minecraft fans on Xbox Live that are continually laying down imaginative creations. And, with the widest range of downloadable content on console, you’ll never run out of new worlds to explore with four player split-screen on one console or up to eight players over Xbox Live
Well now that I have calmed down and stopped hyperventilating, I can now tell you, if for some reason you have not played Minecraft or are one of those people who don’t “get it”, please for the love of Notch try it again!
Just imagine a world of legos that you can build and explore in. Just have fun!
Hope to see you all in Minecraftia
I’m not a hipster (ok maybe a bit) but sometimes you don’t want to buy into a mainstream game, spend 60$ just to be bored a day later.
That’s where indie games come in. Usually sold cheaper or sometimes even free, indie games fills a void that sometimes blockbusters can’t.
Everyone reading might already know my love for Minecraft by the game developer Mojang. Started by Markus Persson, Mojang has now exploded into mainstreamdom.
But I say good for them. They do deserve it. They have answered most all of their fans wishes and continue to come out with new content. (now if they can hurry up and make their game for the One I’ll sing even more praises)
Other Note worthy games to try–
This game is basically a border patrol simulation with a odd but captivating and almost haunting story. There are bribes, sob stories, terrorists and 20 possible endings. Made by Lucas Pope in 2013, you can get this game via steam for 9.99 or here you can get the beta version for free.
I would suggest watching this video with the great Nilesy from Yogscast (also if you don’t know of the Yogscast, please please please! look at their stuff YOGSCAST)
More of an Experience than a game, Dear Esther tells a story through voiced over readings of letters fragments to…you might have guessed it…Esther.
The voice over work is great and memorable. I played it once sometime last year and I can still hear some of the clips in mind crystal clear.
This is something you might just have to see for yourself to really “get.”
Get it here for 9.99
Thomas Was Alone
It seems one thing that makes a great indie game is taking something very basic and adding a great and deep story.
This would explain why, in just a matter of seconds, I fell in love with this little red rectangle.
Thomas Was Alone is a puzzle game that takes random rectangles gives them a color, name, personality and moving ability. These quadrilaterals represent A.I.s trying to escape a dark cloud that is chasing them through hazard infested levels.
Again, this game has great voice over. Although the characters themselves don’t talk, a narrators explains how they feel and what they were thinking. Which works out perfectly really. It makes for a great story.
Can be purchased here for whaaaa?! 9.99
In this you design, plan, build, and run your own prison. This is still in the alpha stage but is a great game.
Even in this early stage, it made over $10.7 million in pre-order sales.
This game is immensely fun. Between just planing and designing you can spend hours. Just don’t get too attached. Chances are your dream prison wont work out for some reason or another and you will have to restart.
But even so, there are so many things to do. Once your prison is built you can then hire a warden, some guards and put them to work. The warden can be used to research more things like doctors and K9 units.
You can get Prison Architect Alpha here
However this game is a whole 30$ at its lowest price point.
If you invest more, you can get sweet things like a prisoner named after you or phsyical goods like a poster and t-shirt.
The moral here is to not discredit indie games before you try them. The best suggestion I would have, is for you to check out the Humble Bundle.
The humble bundle is a group (or “bundle” if you you will lol) of indie games you can buy for what ever price you want. You pay more, you get more. And you decide how to split the money. It goes between the developers, charity, and the humble bundle team.
These bundles change up every two weeks or so check it out now!!
Hello again everyone! I’ve taken a bit of a break from writing, but now I’m back and boy, is there plenty to talk about.
Thief – I got Thief on release and it has been interesting to say the least. Though there are ups and downs I’m feeling pretty positive about it.
Downs – Graphics are sometimes very washed out looking; things are very bland and grey for the most part. Dumb AI is an issue. You can usually quickly get away with no problem just by dashing to the side of them. The world does seem a bit closed off and confusing. I definitely would like to see the”free running” aspect look a little bit more free.
Ups – Sneaking feel good, very visceral. Its fun to watch someone as cool as Garret slink around in the shadows. Likeable charterers. While the plot line is a little…odd, I do like and care about the people.
Ok and for the biggest up–At one point in the story missions “the feel” of the game gets a major overall…AND IT’S AWESOME! I’ll give no spoilers, but it stops feeling like an stealth game and more along the lines of a Silent Hill genre. Just play to find out!
More Xbox One Updates – Beta
As some people may know, there is a beta going on for the next Xbox One update. This includes the friends list being separate from the feed and the recent players list. Favorites at the top of course and a find friends option.
Also there will the ability to live stream. “Allow broadcast” will do just that. The ability to use Twitch (coming March 11th) to broadcast your play through. Something that I am considering doing soon.
The Kinect menu also has a few more options. And now under the Network status there is a section that will let you know of any service issues.
Party chat defaulted to on and you can now users can invite a friend either just to a party, just to a game, or to both.
And included was an update for the controller that will let you use the upcoming headset adapters.
- While I have played it yet, Plants vs. Zombies:Garden Warfare is getting some pretty good reviews.
- Xbox in the effort to “lower the barriers for indie developers” they made the program ID@Xbox and sent dev kits to many developers. now there are over 200 of them working on games now. I ❤ IndieGames
- Trials Fusion coming to the One April 16th!!! With quads, a story, dlc, stunts, and pretty pretty graphics.
- Nintendo killing online support for Wii and DS. 😦 Since many people have not upgraded to a WiiU or 3DS yet (like me) this news is a bit jarring but we have until June to prepare.
- Netflix is getting Pokemon!!!!! Gotta Catch ‘Em All!!!
- Elder Scrolls got a M rating and I’m ok with that.
- 343 has a “great plan” to share and this years E3
- Minecraft!!!! Hopefully soon there will be an announcement about when we can expect to see it for the One.
Since I missed Sundays post for Walking Dead
all I have just this to say is
Well thats all for now, thanks for reading!
First off I want to send a very big thank you to all of you reading! I’m hoping to add more content and other things later, as I want this to grow, so please stick with me.
Ok now onto the thrilling things!
Xbox One System Update–This wont be changing too much but the things it is changing, are useful.
- The ability to check and mange your storage space. Which is nice compared to the “We’ll let you know when you’re out” system. And you can now track you updates better with a boot progress indicator. Also you can prioritize things on your install lineup.
- A battery life indicator. What and miss the fun of it abruptly dieing in the middle of a game? Blasphemy.
- You now will be able to plug up and use a usb keyboard.
This update will be rolling out Feb. 11. There will more more details on this later but already things are looking good.
Minecraft for the One and PS4 (+360 and PS3)–Ever known for hiding upcoming additions in pictures, 4J released these pics to show off their “plushies”
Ok, if you unfamiliar with Minecraft, then you might not spot the changes right away so here’s a quick list.
Emeralds-Which means trading with villagers
Iron Anvils-Which means custom weapons
Ender Chest-Means items will be able to be retrieved from any other enderchest in the world
Carpets-A thin layer of wool that is helpful when carpeting upstairs rooms without the ceiling of the next floor down being partially made of wool.
Carrot on a Sticks-Saddled pigs are now steerable.
So in short, this is awesome.
Borderlands Valentines Day DLC–Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre. Releasing Feb. 11th, this dlc will feature your vault hunter gathering ingredients for a love potion to help the wedding between two members of feuding families. This may sound boring but being Borderlands, it never is.
Ok everyone, thanks for reading. Don’t forget to like, comment, share, or do whatever you feel like. No pressure.
Now moving on—-Minecraft!!!
Mixed with something like this–
Minecraft is one of those, love it or hate it things. Some people just dont “get it”, which is fine. I just feel that they are missing out. There are so many ways to play and things you can build.
Yes, it works better if you have a good imagination, but its still a good game if you just want to hid in a cave and explore.
You can enchant items, brew potions, go to hell (well “the Nether”) and even fight a giant dragon. I mean really, how could you not like this game?
And that’s just the Castle. There is an entire town and secret lab and underground roller coaster as well. But all good things must end and soon I will be starting a new world.
With all of my fandom, here is my small collection of swag so far. I would very much like more.
*hint hint* http://www.levelupstudios.com/diamond-necklace
So for Mr. E’s and my sake, please give Minecraft a try if you haven’t yet.
However I should say, I don’t want you to think your first night will be like this–
When really it might end up like this–
But still, you should give it a try. I love it and have lost countless days crafting and mining and I think everyone should.
Each version is only $20
