Destiny has always been filled with high hopes and equally high disappointments.

She looks pisssssssed

We are not amused

But for the first time in a long time I can say hype has been met with actual fulfillment.

Things included

  • new social space
  • new weapons and gear
  • level raised to 34
  • new story
  • 3 new multiplayer arenas
  • new strike
  • Prison of Elders
  • Trials of Osiris

Ok so we begin finally being allowed to the Reef. Which is awesome because I always liked the look of the place. I’m not going to divulge too too much finer details but I will say I was happy with just about everything.

The new social space is pretty and comes complete with some ghosts, a vault, mailbox, new cryptarch, bounty girl Petra, and the awesome fallen guy who serves as a translator and Prison of Elders dealer.

This guy is hilarious

The story here is that the queens pets betray her and are now going around getting other allies and weapons. (ok its a bit more complicated than that but for a sum up, that explanation will suffice)

In this story you get to go to some pretty surprising and interesting places.

11271106_971083722910912_137430067_n 11281731_971083716244246_1897749050_n 11281904_971083736244244_6683140_n

My first play through with my titan I got a good amount of loot. And everyone gets this little pistol which is decently badass.

The new bounties are fun as well.

Simple guide for that-

  1. go to planet
  2. wait for wolves to prowl
  3. attack
  4. wait for more drop ships
  5. attack and kill big boss
  6. get ether key
  7. go find chest

Yeah, there has been a few times I didn’t find the chest in times and a few other times I was able to find chest, leave area, come back and get the chest again. So my best advice for this is look for the pillar of light or watch others around and hope they know where to go.

Now bouncing planet to planet doing story missions and bounties is fun but for me the real winner here is the Prison of Elders. Arena style fight with you and your fireteam facing 3 waves of random enemies for 5 rounds.

Each round is in a different environment with different enemies and the final round you face a larger boss. The level look pretty great and come equipped with nice hiding areas which you may or may not need.

At the end you go back to you starting room and are dropped down into a Scrooge McDuck like vault.

Sorry for the poor pic

Sorry for the poor pic

Now your first run though you were given a key for the big chest, but from then on out its up to you to find more keys via the other chest you open with the ether keys during bounties.

What did I get my first run you ask-

...I'll just leave this here

…I’ll just leave this here

See, I can’t gloat any because my husband has been trying for a lot longer (and with more skill) than me to get this.

I was just randomly opening chest and not even really paying attention to when it popped up what I had gotten.

But I did in fact get a Jellyhorn.

Ah yes, the rng god is a cruel mistress.

But anyway the new so far has been great and I love seeing new color choices. Even the old venders have new stuff. Like really, at ever turn there has been something cool to find.

So it doesn’t seem like I’m sucking up too much I will say I did have some disappointments. To have to deal with the queens people and not the Queen and her creepy brother themselves was kind of a let down. And as always DLC doesn’t add anymore voice over work for your ghost. I ❤ Peter Dinklage, I just wish more went into his character.

So my point is this-If you liked Destiny when it first came out but then got bored and gave up, its time to go back!

$20 is not very expensive to expand the game this much and to get this much more enjoyment out of it.

So go, go and find more enjoyment in a game you bought half a year ago.

Ok so I ended up playing Destiny all night and not writing.
So tomorrow I will work on that.
But in the mean time.
Have this hype—

Oh yeah!
Fun fact – I love farming sim!
So I will be passing that hype along as well.

House of wolves is awesome.
Post tonight or early tomorrow!

It’s been a ridiculously long time since I or anyone else in my household has played Destiny. Sure it was a good game, but there is only so many times you can run through the same raids and/or strikes or be disappointed by drops or the inventory of a certain someone.

Looking at you Xur

Well anyway, there is something new coming soon!

House of Wolves expansion is set to release May 19th.

The fangirl in me who loves the Queen wants to be like this

but the realist in me is more like

(sorry, I’ve been watching a lot of Archer lately)

As with most things, there is no way of knowing just yet. But I have my hesitations. (as I do with the new Battlefront game, but more on that later)

Changes and other facts

  • Level cap raised to 34
  • Doing away with commendation system
  • Level up existing gear by “Ascension”
  • No raid but instead
  • A cooperative battle arena
  • Of course new weapons, ships, and gear

And in case you missed this it, here is a highlight of the most recent update changes as of 4/14

  • Vault Capacity increased to 24 Armor Slots, 36 Weapon Slots, and 24 General Slots
  • Colorblind support
  • Item Lock now allows players to prevent gear and weapon items from being accidentally dismantled
  • Players can now choose to wear their helmets in social spaces
  • Fixed a bug where ammo consumables did not reliably replenish ammo
  • Fixed a bug that caused a player to lose ammo when switching weapons while dead

Bungie is always about the hype so more news is on the way, being released in small doses.

Here is a list of events they have planed as of now.

April 29th-Reveal and live gameplay of Trials of Osiris (3 on 3 clash event) and its collection of end game gear.

May 6th-Reveal and live gameplay of Prison of Elders, a brand new three-player cooperative multiplayer arena.

May 8th-Stay tuned…whatever that means.

If sure this will at least get me playing for a little bit more. But honestly, I was burnt out a while ago. They will definitely start having to pull off some major feats to get my attention back. Because as of now, I am still enjoying Battlefield Hardline.

But I would be lying if I said I wasn’t interested.

So thats it for now guys and gals, more news as I see it.

Destiny Beta!

I’ll admit, when Destiny was first announced, I wasn’t 100% on board. I had a major case of “been there, done that”. And people were saying how it was like Halo and Borderlands, to which I scoffed.

I hate always being wrong.

Ok, so skepticism aside, this game did have a lot going for it from the start. Bungie as developer and Activision publishing. With MMO elements, three classes and three races to choose from, and voice acting from Peter Dinklage.

That last part may not matter to some people but the idea of a little Tyrion bot following me around is amazing.

20140724_011200I pre-ordered Destiny just because. I was reserving Pokemon with some trade ins, had a few bucks lefts over, threw it on Destiny since we needed more reserves. And as a bonus I got the beta code.

I won’t even get into the bitterness I had about the fact people on PS4 got to play first. (They did) because I know some PC gamers are still upset that there was no game for them at all yet. (March maybe?)

So there I was with a beta code for a game I hadn’t cared about yet. And I’m so glad I did get it, because wow!

ABM_1406493066  ABM_1406494858 ABM_1406496640

I’m sure you would like to see some pictures that aren’t random collages I made. But I think they get the point across. The world is big, pretty, and fun.

The three classes to pick from are Warlock, Hunter, and Titan.

The Warlock draws inspiration from from Star Wars they say with Jedi-like powers, the Hunter is more of a classic recon bounty hunter, and the Titan is very much a Master Chief character.

And because of the sweet hipster scarf and special move (almighty gold pistol that dissolves people) I chose the hunter.

Destiny awaits...and is very stylish

The other classes have nice special moves as well. The Titan smashes the ground and dissolves nearby enemies. The Warlock hurls a nova bomb at enemies disintegrating them.

The three races to choose from are Human, Awoken, and Exo (robot).

While the first and latter are pretty self explanatory, the Awoken are a pale elf-like race as pictured above, because that’s what I chose.

Onto Gameplay-

Now for the most part its a FPS much like Halo and any other of the sort. But then there are other things thrown in that are pleasantly unexpected.

Since you are on a server with other real people, there are things like community events you can team up on, you can revive a random person if you see they have gotten killed nearby,

or…you could just run around the tower plaza and play leap frog and hide and seek like I did with some random person.

or join in on a coordinated, uhhhh massage line?

Either way, the presence of real people makes the game really feel alive. NPC’s are great and all, but real live help is even better.

They have used the phrase “shared world shooter” and that really does fit it well.

And as for how the game has Borderland qualities, that would be the co-op and loot elements.

20140723_040305Whoever is Fireteam leader picks a place, you get into you individual ships, and then you are automatically flown to where the mission takes place.

There you can pose for album covers

On the planets surface you and you team fight enemies, do missions, and go find loot together. (some of which were nice and well hidden on the beta) all while being guided by your cute little ghost.

*not my pic

As for the world itself, it’s wonderful. As many times as I have traveled through a post-apocalyptic world, this one still amazes me.

20140724_015319_1 20140724_021738  20140724_232628  20140724_234001 20140724_234235

The only reason these pictures aren’t as awe-inspiring as they should be is because I took them on my phone. But here is one that sums it up nicely.

The lighting is just crazy good. Like the I don’t think I have ever seen shadows look this good.

Any Critiques?

Of course so. Ok the world looks amazing. BUT it got really old after a while. If these maps are used in the the full game as well, it is going to get boring really quick. So I’m hoping the playable area is as large and varied as I hope it should be.

Another thing I noticed that I think Gamespot summed up pretty well-

“Bungie stated that the three classes of Guardians–Hunter, Titan, and Warlock– but these do not make up the “trinity” of MMO classes. The Warlock isn’t a healer, the Titan isn’t a tank, etc.

But there are still meant to be specific and important differences between the classes. The Titan is supposed to play more like the Spartans from Halo, the Hunter is meant to specialize in stealth and accuracy, and the Warlock should have the best grasp of Destiny’s “space magic.”

But the more we play the beta, the more it seems like the three classes don’t branch in any truly meaningful ways. They all still have magical abilities, they all control more or less the same, and their weapons and gear seem to be virtually identical. Right now, the classes are only differentiated by slight stat advantages and their super abilities.”

I agree completely. I love my Hunter but in the beta I didn’t feel like there was anything differentiating her from any other class besides the hipster scarf.

Of course there is PvP, there’s PvP in everything now. There are 6 different gametypes of the the normal multiplayer variety. But another slight critique, I didn’t like the way the multiplayer maps looked so far. The looked to cluttered and didn’t haven’t any sort of flow. But it should be said that I didn’t play these myself, I’m just inferring from what I have seen and heard.

And even as I work on writing this, this was posted

New Map Revealed

So all signs are pointing to that it should get better.

Which is good since I would eventually like to join the fight

So maybe this game hasn’t been over-hyped after all. Maybe it’s deserving of the reviews that I thought were just hyperbole. All I know is that September 9th can’t get here soon enough.

Whatcha Thinking About?

IDK, Guardian stuff I guess

Oh, another great thing—

I could do this all day

So, as for E3, here are some of the key things I am looking forward to. (that is to say obsessing over)

  • Rainbow Six Siege
  • Far Cry 4
  • Grand Theft Auto 5
  • Forza Horizon 2
  • Hyrule Warriors
  • Dead Island 2

I think the biggest thing this years E3 made me realize, was that I need to catch up on systems. Sure we have a Xbox One, but…

So here we go. Cue my households new items—

Now all I need is a PS4. I dont know if anyone else has been eyeing this, but—

I don’t even really care about Destiny as much as you think I would, but this is pretty awesome.

Oh just rub it in Sony

But before I get too sidetracked, let me go back to the Wii U since I now have one.

The Scarf, oh how I want the Scarf

Hack and Slash!!!!!

“While Team Ninja lead developer Yosuke Hayashi and Tecmo Koei VP Hisashi Koinuma, were discussing a possible Dynasty Warriors cross-franchise game with Nintendo. Zelda was chosen due to the fact that Hayashi, Koinuma and many staff at the company were fans of the series.”

Set to release in September for the US, this game probably made a lot of Wii U sales happen, including mine.

Female badassery at it’s best

Playable characters are of course Link and then, further through the story- Midna, Impa, Zelda, Agitha, Fi and Lana will also be playable.

Each have their unique moves and abilities. And of all the things I love, the biggest thing is both online and local co-op modes.

and Agitha. I mean just look at her. awwwww

Another one for the Wii U that stands out to me.

Take a standard capture the base shooter and make it kid friendly and awesome.

“Players control characters known as Inklings, who have the ability to change between human and squid forms. In human form, Inklings are able to shoot colored ink across the game environment, with the player’s goal being to have the most territory inked in their team’s color before the match ends. Transforming into a squid allows players to swim through ink of their own color, even up walls and through grates, hiding from the enemy and replenishing their ink supply in the process. Conversely, enemy ink is much slower to move across in human form.”

For future reference, do not Google Splatoon without turning on Safe Search.

But really though, who would think. “Hey I want a new fun shooter, oh I should get a Wii U.” But really this game makes me really excited.

I mean, come on-“Players can use their ink to try and ‘splatter’ their opponents, which will send them back to their team’s respawn point whilst also providing a large splat of ink”-That sounds great.

And I love the incorporation of the GamePad. “Players can use the Wii U GamePad to view a map of the surroundings and instantly launch towards the location of another teammate.”

But really though, Don’t Google Splatoon images without safe search

And because I feel it is required to mention while talking about the Wii U.

Yes, make your own Mario.

I could go on explaining, but really, what needs to be said?

Well here is an explanation, if by chance you don’t have your own imagination.

“An upcoming 2D platformer game for the Wii U which allows players to make their own Super Mario levels. It allows players to insert blocks, enemies, items, and more from the original Super Mario Bros. The game also allows switching between the Super Mario Bros. and the New Super Mario Bros. U style.”

So this

Or this

is possible.

Or this

So there it is. Yep, my first post in a long time is slightly short and mainly Wii focused. But really I feel you should know and join in the excitement for these things.

GG! and I hope to start posting on a more regular basis now that things are more stable.
