So forever now I’ve been waiting on a new Xbox One game that could actually take up some time.
It’s taken me a while to be excited for anything. I’ve mostly just been playing my 2DS and old games on the PC. (thank you Steam sale)
But after having to talk about it all the time at work, I have finally got myself hyped up for this.
And whats not to be hyped about? This game has gotten 173 awards and nominations before it has even came out.
With the release day of May 27th for all systems but the WiiU, this is the next biggest game that will be released.
Want an augmented reality HUD to look at? There is an app for that.
Want to mess with other peoples phones, traffic lights, and street lights? There is a hack for that.
On to the point of the game.
An open world-fictionalized-super tech savvy Chicago is the home of Aiden Pearce. Your character, who through the power of a smartphone has a lot to do and a few ways to go about it.
The main driver of the plot is the super computer known as “ctOS” (Central Operating System). In 2003 there was a blackout in the northeast (prombting the development of the ctOS) and for personal reasons Aiden seeks out the culprits using the ctOS and hacking.
The creative director says that the story should have almost 40 hours of gameplay in it. Which I hope is true because that sounds great.
And its possible because there is a lot going on. With your handy dandy smartphone, you can keep up to date with all happenings in your area. It can tell you when crime is likely to occur near you, giving you the chance to intervene.
The action part of the game is a third person shooter with stealth and parkor elements. But still the coolest part is the power you hold in your hand.
With your phone you can access and interact with things in the environment like traffic lights, steam pipes, blockers, and lights. This can be used in combat situations to eliminate opponents, create diversions or create cover.
(And the team actually worked with a Russian anti-virus protection firm to make the hacking seem more realistic.)
With over 100 hacks and around 30 traditional weapons, there should be plenty to do.
So this will out for 360, One, PS3, PS4, and PC May 27th. And the WiiU sometime later this year.
Which I don’t have a WiiU, but the handheld screen does seem like a good fit and could be interesting.
So whatever you console of choice, you shoud have this preordered already and if not. Do it! It’s worth it.
